Drive Samsung 980 Pro will be released in a version with a heatsink and support for PlayStation 5

Samsung will soon release a new version of the 980 Pro Gen 4 SSD NVMe, which will be equipped with a heatsink. The novelty is designed taking into account the possibility of installation in the PlayStation 5 game console as additional memory. Of course, the novelty can also be used as part of a PC.

The only difference between the new version of the Samsung 980 Pro and the original is the presence of a heatsink that removes heat from both the bottom and the top of the SSD. The new product offers the same level of performance as the original model. We are talking about the maximum sequential read speed up to 7000 MB / s and sequential write up to 5100 MB / s. The drive complies with the specifications of the NVMe 1.3c protocol, works with the PCIe 4.0 interface and measures 24 × 80 × 8.6 mm.

The Samsung 980 Pro Gen 4 SSD with heatsink will be available in 1TB and 2TB versions. The manufacturer estimated the first at $ 250, the second at $ 450. The device will be on sale from October 29th.
