Diamond Multimedia is a fairly well-known American brand that makes various multimedia devices, including sound cards. In the early 2000s, the manufacturer also released graphics cards, its own versions of 3dfx Voodoo, NVIDIA and ATI (now AMD Radeon) accelerators. Nobody expected the company to return to the graphics accelerator market five years after releasing its latest graphics card.

Currently, Diamond Multimedia is mainly engaged in the manufacture of converters and webcams. The company also sells various medical devices for Covid tests, such as non-contact thermometers. The last time the manufacturer released graphics cards was in 2017. These were the Radeon RX 580 models. The company recently announced the release of the Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics card based on the latest AMD RDNA 2 architecture.

On the one hand, the news of the return of the old player to the graphics card market is good news. However, this fact will not have any influence on the situation around significantly overpriced graphics accelerators. Keep in mind that the official MSRP for the Radeon RX 6600 XT is $ 379. However, a graphics card is nowhere to be found for this price. So Diamond Multimedia decided to keep up with average market prices and announced the cost of $ 730 for its version of the accelerator.

Diamond Multimedia’s card itself is a complete copy of the PowerColor Radeon RX 6600 XT Fighter model. It uses a reference board and has a simple cooling system with two fans and three copper heat pipes.
