Blizzard Entertainment on its official website has presented another quarterly report on the development of the action RPG Diablo IV. The October post introduces the new Game Development Leader and Sound Design.
Recall that the original director of Diablo IV was Luis Barriga, but in August, he and two of his colleagues left Blizzard. It was assumed that the case was a scandalous lawsuit due to harassment and discrimination against women.
As it became known, from now on, the process of creating Diablo IV is led by Joe Shely, who previously served as chief designer. For the benefit of Blizzard, the developer has been working since 2005.

When it comes to sound design in Diablo IV, Senior Sound Engineer Kris Giampa is in charge. He talked about the importance of this aspect, as well as about the processes of creating audio for the game.
According to Jumpa, if possible, the team records sound for Diablo IV in the field: for example, the flame effects for, among other things, the skills of a sorceress were recorded by developers in the California desert.
In addition, Jampa shared details of the production and the specifics of the sound effects of monsters, the environment (including dungeons) and its elements, as well as destructible objects.
To further immerse yourself in Diablo IV’s sonic ambiance, the report includes videos of soundtrack compositions featuring audio effects in different locations, along with videos of the team’s field trips.
In addition, Jumpa gave assurances that Blizzard would accept “Special measures” to improve accessibility of Diablo IV for people with hearing or vision impairments. Several special functions are under development at once.
Diablo IV is officially announced for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. There is no date or even a release date for the game yet. The previous June report focused on character design and customization options.
