YouTube engineers have developed a Go version of the application that works in conditions of unstable connection, limited traffic, as well as for low-power inexpensive smartphones. After the debut of the Lite version in 2016, the main application underwent a number of optimizations – now it shows high speed on entry-level devices and works stably in poor reception conditions.

As the developers clarified, new configuration tools will soon appear in the settings to reduce the consumption of mobile data traffic when it is limited. Now YouTube Go users are already recommended to download and install the main application – unlike the light application, it allows you to post videos and comment on videos, there is also a dark theme.

Initially, the YouTube Go beta was available for users in India and Indonesia, and the release took place in 2017. In 2013 the app was released in 130 countries. It is possible that the closure now indicates Google’s intention to stop releasing the Android Go operating system intended for budget devices and to optimize the work of the main version.
