portal PC gamer This caught the eye of dataminer Kotn3l in a July video on his YouTube channel, showing how the current version of one of the most difficult bosses in fantasy RPG action Elden Ring differs from the pre-release.
We’re talking about Malenia, nicknamed Blade of Mikella, an optional boss that awaits the hero in a semi-secret location near the end of the passage. It is considered one of the most difficult in Elden Ring, but before the release, the enemy was even more formidable.
As Kotn3l found out, in Build 1.0 (October 2021), Malenia was more aggressive, better at blocking player attacks, and had a second variant of her legendary move, Water Dance (a fast combo of whirlwind attacks).
Before publication, the water dance was called Blade of Malenia, while the true water dance was probably an alternative version of the movement, more like a dance, without long breaks and over a shorter distance.
In its current form, Malenia starts using Water Dance after losing 20% of her health: there is no such limitation in Build 1.0. In addition, both options charge independently of each other, so they can be cast one after the other.
Version 1.0 is only available on consoles in the Elden Ring disc edition, but Kotn3l has opened up a way for players to touch it on PC: on the website Nexus Mods a mod with a pre-release version of Malenia is available.
Elden Ring debuted on February 25th on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. April’s 1.04 update accidentally made Malenia harder than it should have been, but the bug has already been fixed.
