Cyberpunk 2077 gets unofficial AMD FSR 2.0 support, doubles the frame rate

On the portal Nexus Mods and further GitHub An enthusiast has published files and instructions to implement support for AMD FSR 2.0 scaling technology in Cyberpunk 2077. The developer emphasized that the project is experimental in nature, but provided evidence that his solution works.

For confirmation, screenshots from the game were presented, comparing graphics with FSR 1.0 and FSR 2.0 – there is no need to study screenshots in detail: the second version of the scaling technology gives a much brighter and more detailed picture. The author of the project said that he ran Cyberpunk 2077 in 4K resolution on his non-latest GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card, and FSR 2.0 made it possible to increase the frequency to 45 frames per second, that is, double it compared to the baseline .

The solution presented is a library that replaces the NVIDIA DLSS upscaler officially supported by the game. After installing the necessary files according to the instructions, you can select the AMD FSR 2.0 configuration in the Game Settings section, where settings for NVIDIA technology were previously made. It is emphasized that the modification is supported only by game version 1.52 and there are no guarantees of correct operation.

Today, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most demanding AAA games and a kind of standard for testing graphics cards: it supports all modern technologies, including ray tracing and upscaling technologies. The game engine also responds well to the installation of more powerful processors. So far, Cyberpunk 2077 officially only supports FSR 1.0, and of course fans of the title can’t wait to see what the second version of the solution has to offer. However, AMD warned that FSR 2.0 will require the involvement of the game developer – it will take three days to a month.
