The market research company Counterpoint Research has named the 10 “best sellers” on the global smartphone market for 2021. It turned out that the first five places in the rating fall on the products of one company.
Apple proved to be the undisputed leader in the number of sales worldwide – it turned out that the top five places were occupied by the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 11, respectively. In addition, two other models of this brand are also in the top ten, but they were “pressed” by Samsung and Xiaomi smartphones.
If the top five places are undoubtedly dominated by Apple, then the sixth most popular smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy A12 (it was the most popular in the markets of North America, Latin America and Western Europe).
The popularity of the model is not surprising – with performance acceptable to many users, the novelty costs less than $ 200. Another smartphone manufacturer whose models are among the top ten best-selling is Xiaomi. The seventh place in the ranking was taken by the ultra-budget Redmi 9A, and Redmi 9 is the bottom line of the list. According to Counterpoint, these two models accounted for 22% of all Xiaomi smartphone sales, with China, India and Asia-Pacific being the main markets for them.
In any case, Samsung and Xiaomi still have a lot of work to do before they can climb to the top of the rankings. Apple has already unveiled the iPhone SE 2022 with 5G support for $430, which is expected to allow the new product to be very actively promoted in all markets. Keep in mind that Samsung and Xiaomi were hit hard by a semiconductor shortage last year, so they will try to catch up when the supply situation improves.
