portal Eurogamer Game designer Ron Gilbert (Ron Gilbert) noted this in his blog in early May commented the dissatisfaction of some players with the visual style of the upcoming quest Return to Monkey Island.

Gilbert wanted Return to Monkey Island to be provocative and shocking, not what everyone expected. The developers abandoned pixel art (although this option was considered) and did not make the game in a retro style.
Not everyone liked this approach. However, Gilbert has no intention of retiring from his position: “Maybe not the art style for Return to Monkey Island that you wanted or expected, but this is the art style I wanted.”.
Gilbert admitted he was afraid Disney wouldn’t let him make the game he was aiming for before taking on Return to Monkey Island. In fact, according to the game designer, working with the company has turned out to be wonderful.
“It’s ironic to think that the people who don’t want me to make the game I want are some hardcore Monkey Island fans. It saddens me to see all of these comments.”Gilbert shared.
Gilbert concluded by calling Return to Monkey Island an amazing ride: “Come in and have some fun or stomp out of the amusement park because it’s not the roller coaster you imagined.”.
Return to Monkey Island is expected to be released later this year. The project is a continuation of the first two parts, but will feature a casual mode with simplified puzzles and a built-in hint system.
