Counterpoint Technology Market Research evaluated the balance of power in the Chinese smartphone market in the second quarter of this year: sales fell significantly, and Vivo took first place.
It is estimated that around 60 million smartphones were sold in China between April and June. This is 14.2% less than in the second quarter of 2021.
The local market has thus reached a minimum in almost ten years: only in the fourth quarter of 2012 were sales below that.
As previously mentioned, the leader of the quarter was Vivo: its share was 19.8% compared to 21.1% a year earlier. In second place is the Honor brand, which drastically increased sales: over the year, the share rose from 7.7% to 18.3%. Oppo completes the top 3 with a score of 17.9% versus 22.0% last year.
