CD Projekt RED: The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will follow the path of The Witcher 2

The Witcher 2 was released in 2011 and far surpassed The Witcher (2007), and four years later The Witcher 3 raised the bar for the series once again. CD Projekt RED hopes a similar development awaits Cyberpunk 2077.

According to Sarzynski, Cyberpunk 2077 was CD Projekt RED’s first game in a science fiction setting “Lots of new game mechanics, narrative tone, themes and art direction”.

Some ideas worked immediately (art, city design, music, interactive scene system, gameplay styles), while others (progression system, interaction with NPCs, optimization) took more time to refine.

“You can’t do everything perfectly the first time. Now that all game elements are polished and functioning smoothly, we will focus on bringing them even closer together and creating a seamless, fully immersive experience.”Sarzynski assured.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020. It took CD Projekt RED almost three years of patches to perfect the game. Now the studio is switching gears and working on Orion, a direct sequel to the game.
