Remember that RT: Overdrive mode was revealed at NVIDIA’s September presentation and was expected in Cyberpunk 2077 along with the integration of DLSS-3 scaling, but the update was delayed. The publication was planned for the current year.
As has been revealed, RT: Overdrive will debut in Cyberpunk 2077 on April 11 with patch 1.62, but in this case we are only talking about a technology preview.
RT: Overdrive brings support for path tracing (aka full ray tracing) to Cyberpunk 2077, which mimics the physical behavior of light throughout an entire scene as realistically as possible.
CD Projekt RED calls for a look into the future with RT: Overdrive: With full ray tracing, practically all lights now cast physically correct soft shadows and create more realistic indirect lighting and shading.

It was previously reported that RT: Overdrive will feature more accurate RT lighting and shadows thanks to RTX Direct Illumination technology, better indirect lighting, and full-resolution ray-traced reflections.
With the release of Preview mode, Cyberpunk 2077 will become the fourth game to support path tracing. In the past, the technology has appeared in Minecraft, Portal with RTX and Quake II RTX.
