As a reminder, Orion was confirmed last October. The project was scheduled to start pre-production in 2023, after the release of the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty add-on.

As has become known, CD Projekt now only expects expenditure for research work on Orion in 2024. Technically, this phase is part of pre-production, so the game is still very, very far from release.

“We expect the studios to be operational in early 2024, but we are already seeing some costs associated with the Orion and Hadar projects.”explained in the CD Projekt manual.

Hadar refers to CD Projekt RED’s ambitious RPG based on a brand new intellectual property that is currently even less known than Orion.

Orion will be built at CD Projekt RED’s new North American studio in Boston. The team will consist of key Cyberpunk 2077 developers and will try to do this “Unleashing the Potential of the Universe”.

The next release in the franchise is said to be the aforementioned Phantom Liberty add-on to the original Cyberpunk 2077. The presentation of the add-on is expected as part of the upcoming Summer Game Fest.
