CD Projekt has announced the budget for the Phantom Liberty add-on for Cyberpunk 2077 – the cost is comparable to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

CD Projekt RED has already warned during a recent presentation to investors that the Phantom Liberty expansion to Cyberpunk 2077 will be the largest budget in the studio’s history divided specific indicators.

As it became known, “Phantom Freedom” cost CD Projekt RED 370 million zlotys (about 85 million US dollars) – 275 million zlotys (63 million US dollars) were spent on the development itself, another 95 million zlotys (22 million US dollars -dollars) flowed into marketing.

The budget for Cyberpunk 2077 was 1.2 billion zlotys (US$316 million). According to CFO Piotr Nielubowicz, it cost the studio an additional 178 million zloty ($41 million) for the PS5, Xbox Series X and S versions.

For comparison: The budget for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was estimated at 306 million zloty. At the time of publication, that amount was $81 million, and to date (adjusted for inflation) it is closer to $105 million.

Previously, CD Projekt RED announced that global sales of Cyberpunk 2077 exceeded 25 million copies and that Phantom Liberty’s result in the first week of release amounted to 3 million copies.
