The Polish company CD Projekt as part of a Fresh financial report summarized the results of the past calendar year, informed about current developments and immediate plans.
Despite the lack of new major releases (the release of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on current-gen consoles don’t count), 2022 was the second-best year in CD Projekt’s history.
CD Projekt’s total revenue for 2022 was PLN 952.6 million ($222 million), while net profit reached PLN 347 million (almost $81 million). At the same time, a significant part of this profit – PLN 200 million (USD 46.6 million) – was invested in future projects.
CFO Piotr Nielubowicz as well spoke out on CD Projekt’s decision to write off the costs incurred in developing Project Sirius, unusual The Witcher from The Molasses Flood and redefines the concept of the game.
According to Nelyubovich, this step was necessary to avoid even greater losses in the future: “To keep innovating, we need to experiment and break new ground, but also stay in control and on track, especially with a new design project for us being developed by our new studio.”.
