Bayonetta 3 spotted a mechanic from the canceled Scalebound

PlatinumGames at last night’s Nintendo Direct finally did what its fans have been waiting for – showing the gameplay of Bayonetta 3 after a few years of silence. In addition to this, it unexpectedly turned out that the mechanics of the action are inspired by Scalebound – a Microsoft exclusive, canceled in 2017. At least that’s what a former studio employee thinks.

According to former PlatinumGames creative producer Jean Pierre Kellams, Bayonetta 3 is directed by Yusuke Miyata, lead designer of the action adventure Scalebound: “[…] He is extremely talented and I really want to play [Bayonetta 3]because he directs it “– wrote Kellams.

In addition to this, Kellams revealed that the demon control mechanics look very similar to those used in the canceled Scalebound. Recall that in the latter, the protagonist could control the huge dragon Tuban in battles – just like Sereza in the new Bayonetta. It looks like the spirit of Scalebound continues to live on in Bayonetta 3.

“Yes … Management [демоном] looks very similar to the mechanics we used in Scalebound to control Thuban. Now that I’ve revisited the trailer, I’m very happy about that. “Kellams added.

Bayonetta 3 will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch in 2022.
