Bandai Namco confirms it’s still “actively working” to restart the Dark Souls servers for PC

User Relevant-Heart-1751 from the forum Reddit I asked Bandai Namco Entertainment if we should wait until the Dark Souls series online services are back up and running on PC and got a response.

Recall that on January 23 Bandai Namco Entertainment temporarily disabled Dark Souls Trilogy servers on PC due to a vulnerability that allows attackers to remotely execute code on someone else’s computer.

Soon the publisher promised that online services would not work again until after the release of Elden Ring. It’s been two and a half months since the open-world fantasy action game was released (and 100+ days since the shutdown), and things are still there.

“I am pleased to confirm that the developers are actively working to fix this issue and restart the Dark Souls servers on PC as soon as possible.”read Bandai Namco Technical Support’s reassuring response.

The publisher’s representative could not say exactly when to wait for the promises to be fulfilled: “At this time we do not have a prospective timeline [возвращения онлайн-служб Dark Souls на ПК в рабочее состояние]».

As for Elden Ring, the vulnerability found in Dark Souls does not threaten it: Bandai Namco Entertainment and developer FromSoftware “The necessary protective measures have been provided for this project on all target platforms”.

Elden Ring debuted on February 25th on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. The game was a huge success (more than 12 million copies in three weeks) but also had online problems ( though not as serious).
