Despite the countless popular games on Steam, more than half a million of them received fewer than three dozen user reviews. Baldur’s Gate 3, a fantasy RPG from Larian Studios, recently joined their ranks.
As noted PC Gamertechnically Baldur’s Gate 3 passed the 500k review mark before this week, but when counting Valve’s reviews does not take into account feedback from users who purchased the game not through Steam.
In total, Baldur’s Gate 3 has already received more than 560 thousand user reviews and reached 25th place in this indicator in Steam historybecoming the first new game since Elden Ring to crack the top 30 (Lethal Company at number 40).
At the same time, Baldur’s Gate 3 received most of the reviews precisely after leaving early access: by the beginning of last August (version 1.0 was released on the 3rd), the game had about 42 thousand reviews on Steam.
Larian Publishing Head Michael Douse thanked fans for conquering this peak: “I remember about nine years ago looking at games with so many reviews and thinking how crazy this is. And now we have achieved this indicator…”
“Half a million is a very large number. I wish I could gather you all in one place, shake your hands and talk about your adventures. In the absence of such an opportunity, I will say that reading these reviews was an absolute pleasure.”— shared Larian CEO Swen Vincke.
In the six months since leaving early access, the percentage of positive reviews for Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam has reached 96% (“extremely positive” reviews). Any day now the game should receive its sixth major post-release patch.
