Japanese publisher and developer Atlus as part of a New Year’s message for the magazine Famitsu spoke about the success of his role-playing game Shin Megami Tensei V on the world market.
As it became known, by the end of last year (less than two months after its release), Shin Megami Tensei V’s total shipments and digital sales exceeded 800,000 copies worldwide.
For comparison: Shin Megami Tensei IV – the previous full-fledged part of the series – to be achieved 600 thousand copies sold it took a little less than two years (from May 2013 to July 2015).
In December 2021, the management of Sega (the parent company of Atlus) specified, which was delighted with the success of Shin Megami Tensei V, but did not provide any indicators at the time.
Shin Megami Tensei V was released in Japan on November 11, 2021 and elsewhere on Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021. At home the game started a little worse than the fourth part, and in the USA it showed a record start for the series.
