Apple is rumored to be unveiling its long-awaited mixed reality headset at a WWDC 2023 event in early June. Due to the cutting-edge technology and not-so-simple manufacturing process, the headset is expected to cost around $3,000. However, analysts calculated that Apple itself will cost more than $1,500 for each device.

The components alone are said to cost Apple $1,400 per device. If shipping costs are taken into account, the price per unit increases to $1600. It is assumed that the mixed reality headset will be equipped with an Apple M2 chip, 12 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 modules for fast wireless communication. The most expensive are OLED displays with prices between 280 and 320 US dollars. A set of 14 cameras is also expensive – $160.

At the development stage, the device project cost Apple $ 1 billion annually, but sales forecasts have been lowered – according to analysts, in the first year of the product’s existence it will hardly be possible to sell more than 500 thousand units.
