The smartphones of the iPhone 14 Pro series have noticeable external differences to existing models: The cutout in the display is replaced by an elongated through hole for the front camera, while the Face ID module is hidden under the surface of the screen. The informant DylanDKT announced this on Twitter.

This information is consistent with data cited by renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in September last year. According to him, the displays of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models will actually get a hole for the front camera. For its part, Apple took the first step in that direction in 2021 when the notch in the screens of the iPhone 13 smartphones was still decreasing, although it hasn’t changed since the iPhone X was released in 2017.
I can confirm information about a pinhole camera for the Pro models of the iPhone 14. Face ID hardware is placed under the display. To ease any concerns, the functionality of these sensors has not been adversely affected by this change.

With such a solution, the iPhone 14 Pro will be on a par with the Android smartphones that have long since replaced the giant pony with neat miniature cut-outs or holes. In addition, there will be a noticeable difference between the Pro range of smartphones and the base iPhone 14, which will supposedly keep the chunky cutout of the previous models.
DylanDKT also announced that an updated version of the iPhone SE will be released in 2022. The phone keeps the same “classic” design, but with 5G support and improved specifications. But the foldable iPhone is still in the prototype stage: Apple is even more interested in how this technology will develop, but such a device should come onto the market in the future.
