Apple to unveil updated MacBook Pros before late fall

Apple has already updated the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch for the holiday season, but the next generation of MacBook Pro has not yet been officially announced. Well-known Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman spoke about the likely plans of the “apple” producer.

As reported in the Power On mailing list, the new M1X-based MacBook Pro will arrive next month. Typically, Apple held Mac-related events in October or early November, for example – in early November last year, the first laptops based on the Apple M1 platform were introduced.

According to Gurman, there will be two variants of the chipset, both with 10-core CPUs. Eight cores in them are high-performance, and two are energy efficient. The difference between the options is in the graphics solutions used. M1X will be presented with 16 or 32 graphics cores. Additionally, Gourmet said that the company is working on high-performance platforms for the Mac Pro, as well as the M2 chipset for the MacBook Air, iMac and MacBook Pro cheaper.

Rumors about new versions of the MacBook Pro have been circulating for a long time. Introduced last fall, the 13-inch version on the M1 chipset was virtually identical in terms of capabilities to the previous generation laptops – except for the fact that it used a chip of its own design, and the 16-inch MacBook Pros have not been updated since late 2019.

According to some reports, 14- and 16-inch models with updated case designs and more ports, including HDMI and even an SD card slot, will go on sale. A MagSafe-style wireless charging port is also possible, and the Touch Bar, which first appeared above keyboards in the 2016 MacBook Pro, is expected to disappear.
