According to forecasts of the well-known consulting company TrendForce, the new version of the “budget” smartphone Apple iPhone SE will be released in the first quarter of 2022. The novelty will retain the design of the previous version, but will receive new hardware with support for fifth generation cellular communications.

Judging by previous forecasts, outwardly the new product will not differ much from the iPhone SE (2020) model – it will receive the same display, rather wide bezels and a Touch ID sensor integrated into the power button. While there have been rumors of a smartphone redesign in the past, it doesn’t look like it will happen before 2023.
At the same time, TrendForce expects the iPhone SE (2022) to receive a new chip. Probably, we are talking about Apple A14 or A15, since there are no other options with 5G support in the Apple portfolio. These chips are used, for example, in the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. The release of the new iPhone SE is Apple’s first attempt to enter the mid-range smartphone market with a next-generation connectivity model. Recall that the current iPhone SE (2020) is equipped with a 7nm A13 Bionic, which only supports 4G – it is used in the iPhone 11.
It is noteworthy that the design of the old iPhone SE 2020, in the image of which the new SE is expected to be created, practically duplicates the design of an even older model – iPhone 8. Among the advantages of this design, only a 4.7-inch display, compact smartphones with similar performance is practically absent on the market today.
The named specifications generally correspond to those named by the renowned marketing analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Earlier there were rumors of an iPhone SE with a larger display, but it looks like it won’t arrive next year. The company believes that the novelty will be released in a circulation of 25-30 million copies.
