Apple has added refurbished 2023 Mac minis with M2 chipsets to its US online store. For the first time this year, the company started selling refurbished computers – they are offered at significant discounts.

For a restored version of the Mac Mini on an M2 chip with an 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD, the store is asking $509. At the same time, a new computer with similar characteristics is sold for $ 90 more, namely for $ 599.
Apple has been known to sell different versions of the Mac mini, with different amounts of RAM and SSDs, as well as more powerful M2 Pro chips, but so far there are no refurbished models with the M2 Pro on sale. The more expensive a new Mac mini variant is, the higher the discount on a refurbished model.
The new Mac mini models introduced in 2023 have replaced the M1 chipset variants. Apple has not updated the design of compact desktop PCs, focusing on releasing more powerful hardware.
Refurbished Apple products are new in many respects, each refurbished specimen is fully tested, the cases have no external defects, a full pre-sale preparation is carried out with cleaning of contamination and removal of all traces of the previous owner, such as packaging. Refurbished products are eligible for AppleCare+ Extended Services and can be returned to the store like new items within two weeks.
In April this year, it was reported that Apple stopped producing M2 chipsets in January and February 2023 and resumed production at a reduced pace – the main reason being the drop in demand for computers in the global market. Different chips from the Apple M2 series are used in the MacBook Pro, Mac mini and MacBook Air.
