User complaints have surfaced on MacRumors forums, Reddit, and the Apple Support Community website about display flickering on some Apple Watch models, caused by a pulsating change in brightness when Always On mode is enabled. The company is currently investigating the causes of this defect, he writes MacRumors referring to the memo sent to authorized service providers.
Apple smartwatch owners running all versions of watchOS 10, including the latest watchOS 10.0.2, have encountered a similar error. It is not clear from the note which Apple Watch models are being discussed. According to MacRumors, the issue is most common on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, which launched last month.
Apple warned service providers not to repair smartwatches in this case, but only to inform customers about the need for a software update. This means Apple may eventually fix the problem with a watchOS update. As a temporary solution, the company suggests simply disabling Always-On Mode.
The memo said Apple is also investigating an issue that could cause the activity rings on the Apple Watch face to turn “temporarily pink,” as some users have reported online in recent weeks.
