IC Insights forecasts that analog semiconductor solution sales will grow 12% to $83.2 billion in 2022 and shipments will increase 11% to 238.7 billion units. The average selling price of the qualifying chips is expected to increase by 1% in 2022.

Revenue growth of a record 30% in 2021 has lifted the overall analog chip market to an unprecedented $74.1 billion, with shipments up 22% to $215.1 billion, also a record high. A 6% increase in the average price over the past year was driven by both strong demand and supply chain disruptions.

Sales of all types of analog ICs are expected to grow this year, from amplifier and comparator solutions (up 7%) to automotive chips (17%).

According to IC Insights, one of the factors behind the growth of analog chips in 2022 is the increase in the supply of 5G smartphones and the development of the infrastructure for them – telecom solutions will take the lion’s share of the market. Power management chips will take second place in the analog chip niche.
