Final Fantasy VII Remake included three full-fledged games, only one of which has been released so far, but Square Enix is reportedly already planning a refresh of another classic RPG from the illustrious series – Final Fantasy IX.
That Square Enix is preparing a remake of Final Fantasy IX for release was also evidenced by a massive leak from the GeForce Now servers in September 2021, but nothing has been heard from the project since then.
However, in a recent episode of the Game Mess Mornings podcast, Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb said: missthat a remake is real and actually in development at Square Enix.
“I have to say that I recently heard again: there is a remake of Final Fantasy IX. He’s real and getting ready to go.said Grubb. The journalist did not mention the time of publication or the official announcement.
In the forum ResetEra The Final Fantasy IX Remake was also narrated by the insider “Im A Hero Too”. He assures that the game will look good (not the level of Final Fantasy VII) and will feature a traditional combat system.
In addition to the Final Fantasy IX remake, the GeForce Now leak also included a Final Fantasy Tactics remaster. According to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, this is the project is real too.
Final Fantasy IX debuted on the original PlayStation in July 2000 (Japanese release) and received average critical acclaim 94 out of 100%. From 2016 to 2019, the game was also released on Android, iOS, PC (Steam), PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
