An improved version of the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip may be released in May

According to network sources, Qualcomm will announce a more productive modification of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor for premium smartphones by the end of spring.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, remember, debuted in December last year. It integrates eight cores, including the powerful Kryo Prime core clocked at up to 3.0GHz, the seventh-generation Qualcomm AI Engine, and the next-generation Adreno graphics accelerator. With the advanced Snapdragon X65 5G modem, you can transfer data at speeds of up to 10 Gbps.

The processor under development is codenamed SM8475 and is expected to hit the commercial market under the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ name. The official presentation is said to take place in May.

Most likely, the manufactured product inherits the architecture from the progenitor. At the same time, the maximum frequencies of the computing cores and the graphics node increase.

It is noted that the production of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ is carried out by TSMC using 4-nanometer technology. The first smartphones with the new chip will debut in June. According to available information, such devices are being prepared by Lenovo, Motorola, OnePlus, Xiaomi and others.
