The flagship electric vehicles Tesla Model S and Model X switched to AMD components after last year’s restyling, and the partners were particularly proud of the increased performance of the integrated multimedia system, which made it possible to run quite demanding games and approached the possibilities modern game consoles. Now, with the support of ECARX, AMD is ready to offer its discrete graphics solutions to various automakers.
Keep in mind that the recent Tesla Model 3 and Model Y also switched to using AMD components during the planned upgrade, albeit more modestly compared to Ryzen processors for embedded systems, but this allowed the on- Board multimedia system user interface, which generally contains very rich graphical information and is constantly evolving in this sense.
today press release AMD’s website announced that the company has started a collaboration with ECARX, a manufacturer of on-board infotainment systems for cars. Solutions of this brand are equipped, for example, with the latest models from Volvo and its parent company Geely. The first digital driver cockpit, as the partners call it, will be created together by the end of 2023 and will combine Ryzen Embedded V2000 processors and discrete graphics cards from the Radeon RX 6000 series with RDNA 2 architecture.
Multi-display support, including projection and rich entertainment features for second-row passengers in such a system, is combined with a rich toolkit for the driver, including a voice command recognition system with multiple in-cabin workspaces. Accordingly, AMD solutions may appear in the products of those automakers that will cooperate with ECARX.
