Remember that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is an octa-core and 16-thread processor with a frequency of up to 5 GHz, which is 400 MHz lower than the Ryzen 7 7700X model with eight cores without 3D V- cache. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D has a total cache of 104 MB (96 MB L3). The processor’s TDP is 120W, which is 15W higher than the Ryzen 7 7700X. The Core i9-13900K, in turn, is second in the list of the most productive Intel Raptor Lake processors, after the Core i9-13900KS model. It has 24 cores with support for 32 virtual threads and runs at up to 5.8 GHz. The maximum long-term TDP of the Intel chip is 253 W.

AMD tested the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and the Core i9-13900K on systems equipped with a DDR5-6000 RAM kit. Gaming tests were run at 1080p resolution. They included such game projects as Rainbow Six Siege, Total War: Three Kingdoms, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn. The performance difference in favor of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D was between 13 and 24% depending on the game. On average, the AMD processor was 19.5% faster than the Intel chip. However, one should consider the small selection of games and the fact that the tests were conducted by AMD itself and not by independent reviewers.

According to Tom’s Hardware, Ryzen 7 7800X3D is about 3% slower in Horizon Zero Dawn and Rainbow Six Siege than Ryzen 9 7950X3D, which has dual CCD chipsets, one of which is equipped with 3D V-Cache. Don’t be surprised if the actual difference in gaming performance between Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 9 7950X3D is no more than 5% according to independent comparative tests. It is worth remembering that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is $250 cheaper than the older model and $130 cheaper than the Intel processor.

According to the same AMD tests, the new Ryzen 7 7800X3D on Zen 4 architecture is 21-30% faster than the Ryzen 7 5800X3D on Zen 3 architecture in games. The processors were compared in games like Warhammer Dawn of War II, CS: GO and Dota2.
