AMD has released the latest Radeon Software Adrenalin 23.9.1 WHQL graphics driver package. The driver includes a new HYPR-RX feature that boosts performance in every game with the push of a button. The manufacturer has provided a special driver version for the new graphics cards Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT.

HYPR-RX was designed as an easy-to-use, one-click driver-level performance boosting tool based on three technologies: Radeon Super Resolution, Radeon Boost, and Radeon Anti-Lag (Anti-Lag+). Driver-level implementation means you can use the solution in any game – no action is required on the part of the developer.
Radeon Super Resolution works like FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 and is based on the same algorithm – rendering is done at a lower resolution and then the algorithm increases the image resolution to the target. However, instead of relying on game developers to implement AMD’s scaling technology, the company has found a way to scale frames across all games at the driver level.
Anti-Lag+ is analogous to NVIDIA Reflex. Both technologies are designed to minimize input lag and effectively control processor performance. This gives players greater responsiveness in dynamic scenes. Anti-Lag+ is only supported by Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards based on RDNA 3 architecture.
Radeon Boost can dynamically reduce resolution as the image moves. For dynamic and fast-paced content, this can improve responsiveness and performance. For newer games, Radeon Boost takes advantage of a feature included in DirectX 12 called Variable Rate Shading or Variable Shading. Radeon Software Adrenalin 23.9.1 WHQL Driver for Radeon Boost adds support for Resident Evil 4 Remake and Ghostwire: Tokyo.
Currently 12 games support AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+: Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, Borderlands 3, Dying Light 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 4, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Fortnite, The Last of Us : Part I, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Forspoken. Future driver updates will add support for new games.
In the future, AMD HYPR-RX will continue to evolve. It will support the AMD Fluid Motion Frames frame generator, a key feature of the FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 scaling technology, which will improve the performance of games using the DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 APIs. AMD plans to add Fluid Motion Frames to the HYPR-RX feature in the first quarter of next year.
List of fixed issues in the new driver:
- Fixed an issue where an error message could appear when selecting the Dolby Atmos for Home Theater surround sound format.
List of Known Issues:
- The frames per second item in the performance metrics overlay may not appear in certain games.
- Audio and video are out of sync when recording with AMD software: Adrenalin Edition with AV1 codec;
- Some FreeSync Premium Pro enabled Samsung displays may not achieve the correct brightness in certain games when local dimming is enabled.
- Baldur’s Gate 3 using the Vulkan API may experience application crashes or driver timeouts on Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics cards.
- Smite may experience application crashes or driver timeouts on Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics cards.
You can download the Radeon Software Adrenalin 23.9.1 WHQL driver from AMD official website or through the Radeon graphics management application.
Important: AMD recommends using a dedicated driver version 23.9 for the new Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT graphics cards. Download hereby selecting the required card model from the list.
