AMD made a preliminary description of the characteristics and capabilities of the Ryzen 7000 (Raphael) processor family with the Zen 4 architecture in socket AM5 at the end of May, but so far has been vague about the timing of their market entry, only mentioning autumn of this year. From unofficial sources it was known that the market debut of new 5nm processors could take place in September, and at the last quarterly event AMD management announced its intention to release them before the end of the quarter.
The fiscal quarter in the company’s reporting nearly coincides with the calendar quarter, so the current three-month period ends at the end of September. According to this, AMD will have the opportunity to present the Ryzen 7000 processor family before the end of next month without violating its commitments. As you can see from the invitation on AMD’s website, the company will be holding a seminar for dealers tomorrow night that will focus on Socket AM5 motherboards. Motherboard manufacturer representatives will attend as speakers.
AMD CEO Lisa Su referred to the timing of the announcement of the Ryzen 7000 processors in the prepared part of her speech at the quarterly report conference. she is specified: “We are on track to announce brand new 5nm desktop processors Ryzen 7000 and platforms AM5 later this quarter, which will lead in game performance and content creation.”.
In the third quarter, the head of the company explains, sales in the PC segment should not fall by 8-9% as previously assumed, but by a full 14-16%. In the fourth quarter, the company hopes for steady growth in the PC segment and anticipates increased demand due to the launch of its new 5nm products, including graphics solutions. The correction of the forecast for the capacity of the PC market this year implies a decrease in the number to 290 or 300 million units. According to Lisa Su, the company adequately assesses the current situation in the PC market.
