AMD has introduced a new entry-level discrete gaming graphics accelerator – the Radeon RX 6500 XT. The manufacturer states that the card will go on sale on January 19th. The suggested cost for a new item is $ 199.
The heart of the Radeon RX 6500 XT is the Navi 24 XT processor, which was developed using the 6 nm TSMC-N6 manufacturing process. The chip contains 16 execution units with 1024 stream processors and 16 hardware-accelerated ray tracing units. The game frequency of the processor is given as 2610 MHz and the maximum with 2815 MHz. The card received 4 GB GDDR6 video memory with 64-bit bus support and 144 GB / s bandwidth as well as 16 MB additional Infinity cache memory. The stated power consumption of the novelty is 107 watts.
In games, the accelerator is up to 1.6 times more productive than popular solutions in the entry-level segment of games. The company is comparing the new product with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 model released in 2019 and the AMD Radeon RX 570, which was introduced two years earlier.
In addition to the graphics card mentioned above, AMD introduced a new technology to scale Radeon Super Resolution, which is actually a software version of FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR). Information about her was reported late last month. Remember that Radeon Super Resolution or RSR is based on the FSR algorithm.
RSR technology allows you to upscale the picture from lower to higher while improving the overall performance in games. Unlike hardware FSR, which requires the assistance of game developers, Radeon Super Resolution technology is implemented at the driver level and is therefore natively supported in thousands of different games, as AMD points out.
RSR technology will be released in the first quarter of this year when the company releases a new version of the Radeon Adrenalin Edition graphics driver. Among other things, the driver will add support for AMD Link 5.0 and Smartshift Max technologies.
The latter is designed for laptops with AMD processors and Radeon graphics cards and allows you to efficiently distribute performance between the central processor and graphics card in the situations when it is needed. The technology will support more games and increase performance by up to 13%. The declared SmartShift Eco function doubles the operating time of the laptop.
It’s also about SmartAccess Graphics technology, which automatically redistributes the load between the laptop’s integrated and discrete graphics cards, increasing the latter’s performance and energy efficiency.
