AMD introduced the Radeon RX 7900M mobile graphics card and the first laptop with it – the Alienware m18

AMD has officially introduced its mobile graphics card Radeon RX 7900M, which debuted with the Alienware m18 gaming laptop. The AMD RDNA 3 graphics card family features a Navi 31 GPU and 16GB of memory. AMD Ryzen 7045HX processors also ensure the high performance of the Alienware laptop.

The Alienware m18 is the most powerful 18-inch notebook in the AMD Advantage series. In fact, the most advanced solutions from the Reds are offered here: the fastest AMD Radeon graphics card and the fastest AMD Ryzen processor – you can choose from the Ryzen 7045HX series up to the Ryzen 9 7945HX with 16 cores and 32 threads. AMD Radeon RX 7900M marks the manufacturer’s return to the segment of mobile flagship graphics cards, which were not particularly spoiled by the RDNA series. It uses a chiplet MCM layout, including a 5nm main processor computing unit (GCD) and a 6nm auxiliary MCD.

The flagship mobile graphics card contains 36 WGP units (WorkGroup Processors) or 72 Compute Units, which make up 4608 cores. That’s 20% more than the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, but 10% less than the Radeon RX 7900 GRE; There is 16GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus and 64MB of Infinity Cache. We can say that AMD is at the level of the high-end NVIDIA RTX 40. In terms of power consumption, the AMD Radeon RX 7900M has a TGP of 160W, although this value can increase to 200W due to SmartShift technology.

Other “AMD Advantage” features on the Alienware m18 include support for up to 64GB of dual-channel DDR5-4800 memory, up to three NVMe M.2 drives totaling 8.5TB, a 330W -GaN power supply, a 97Wh battery and an 18-inch drive Display – QHD+ (165 Hz) and FHD+ (480 Hz) options available. The proprietary Cryo-Tech system with copper alloy components and an evaporation chamber for the central and graphics processor is responsible for cooling.

Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 are supported, there is an Ethernet port, a universal 3.5mm headset jack, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (Type A and Type C) and two USB 4 Gen2 Type- C ports with power support up to 15W, DisplayPort 1.4, Mini DisplayPort and SD memory card slot. The keyboard and power button feature AlienFX RGB lighting. The Alienware m18 with AMD Radeon RX 7900M graphics will retail starting at $2,799.99.
