Alienware has updated its X- and M-series laptops for CES 2022 in the US. In addition, the brand new X14 gaming model was introduced, which matches the design of the X15 and X17 models. At the same time, the novelty weighs only approx. 1.2 kg and is significantly more compact, but also offers a powerful filling.
The Alienware X14 has a 14-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The new product costs from $ 1799.99 – the option is obviously not one of the many budget solutions that but is equipped with quite powerful hardware: The model uses 12th generation Intel Core processors (up to 14-core Core i7) and discrete graphics cards up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060. The power consumption of the card during dynamic overclocking is 85 W. It also uses 5200 MHz DDR5 memory – a lot more than most modern gaming laptops.
The memory with the same frequency is used in models X15 and X17. It is noteworthy that the RAM cannot be expanded or changed after purchase, as Alienware has decided to unsolder it on the motherboard. If you still want to increase the permanent storage, you have the option of installing up to 2 TB in the M.2 SSD slot.
Alienware claims the 14.5mm laptop is the thinnest 14-inch gaming laptop and the only laptop of its size to feature an NVIDIA G-Sync display with NVIDIA Advanced Optimus. The latter allows the computer to switch seamlessly between integrated and discrete video adapters, depending on whether the current need is low power consumption or high performance. The system is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 80 Wh, although the company does not provide any information on battery life.
The manufacturer expects sales of the X14 to start early this year. The model already has competitors in this niche, including ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, Razer Blade 14 and other laptops.
In addition, the company presented other products that are unique in many respects, including the world’s first gaming model of a quantum dot monitor.
