It seems that the failure of the adventure stealth action-adventure The Lord of the Rings: Gollum for Daedalic Entertainment has not gone unnoticed. According to reports, the German studio refuses to develop games.

As a result of the transformation, 25 of the company’s 90 employees will be laid off. Daedalic assured that they value every member of their team and therefore promise to support ex-employees.

Surviving Deponia, announced by Daedalic in June, is being created by third-party studio AtomicTorch and is therefore not affected by the restructuring, unlike the new Lord of the Rings game.

Daedalic has been a division of the French publishing house Nacon since 2022. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was released on May 25th on PC (Steam, EGS), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S and was due out on Nintendo Switch by the end of 2023.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was devastated by both the mainstream press and the general public. The project turned out to be so unsuccessful that the developers even apologized to the users and admitted the mistake.
