After Patch 2.0, Cyberpunk 2077 will be able to fully exploit the potential of multi-core processors

A comprehensive 2.0 update for the action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 and the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC are about to be released. CD Projekt RED puts the finishing touches on the game and reveals details about upcoming improvements. Filip Pierściński, the scene’s lead programmer, announced a very important element of the upcoming patch: Cyberpunk 2077 will finally be able to exploit the full potential of multi-core processors.

After the update, eight-core processors can experience up to 90% utilization in games. The developer recommends users to test their computer using Cinebench to evaluate the effectiveness of system cooling under prolonged processor load. Of course, Cinebench is not a gaming test, but it is easy to use, does not require installation and loads all processor cores to 100%.

Perszynski also said that the game will no longer require mods for Ryzen processors, solving the problem players face when using Ryzen SMT technology. Perszczynski recommended sticking with 8-core SMT configurations while still having the ability to adjust settings to suit your preferences. Optimization for 8-core AMD processors suggests that the game can offer good performance on Ryzen 7000X3D series processors due to the use of 3D V-Cache.

Marcin Momot, head of CD Projekt RED’s global community, believes that patch version 2.0 should be released this week.
