Acer introduces Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition gaming laptop with 3D display

Acer has introduced the Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition gaming laptop. The laptop features a SpatialLabs stereoscopic display that does not require the use of 3D glasses to view a three-dimensional image. The screen creates a three-dimensional image effect using a biconvex lens and camera system, and the display modes can be switched from 3D to 2D and vice versa.

Last year Acer released the ConceptD 7 SpatialLabs Edition laptop for digital content creators. This time we decided to try the technology on a gaming laptop.

The Acer Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition features a 15.6-inch IPS display that supports 3840 x 2160 pixels in regular 2D. When switching to 3D mode, the resolution is reduced to 1920 × 2160 pixels, since the system actually has to process two images at the same time. The SpatialLabs display uses a combination of eye-tracking technology, a 3D lenticular lens attached to a 2D panel, and real-time image rendering to create an on-screen 3D effect that is rendered without the use of a 3D glasses can be seen.

The SpatialLabs TrueGame application allows you to scan the 3D spatial information in the game environment and based on this data create game profiles that can be used to create a stereoscopic effect. The developers point out that more than 50 popular games are already supported by the technology and more will appear in the future.

The technical characteristics of the laptop also keep up with its innovative technologies. The laptop features an Intel Core i9-12900H processor with 14 cores and a clock speed of up to 5 GHz, as well as a GeForce RTX 3080 graphics accelerator. In addition, there is 32 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and the installation of two PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs for 2TB total and operating in RAID 0 mode Liquid metal is used as part of the processor cooling system. The 5th generation of AeroBlade 3D fans is also used.

Declares the use of the Killer E2600 Ethernet and Killer Wi-Fi 6E 1675i network controllers, providing wired and wireless connections, as well as the presence of a Thunderbolt 4 connector and support for DTS X: Ultra Audio. The laptop is powered by a 90 Wh battery. The laptop measures 359.4 x 276.4 x 27.55 mm and weighs 3 kg.

In Europe and the Middle East, the Acer Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition (PH315-55s) will be available from September starting at €3,299. In the US, sales of the laptop will start in the fourth quarter. There, the cost starts at $4,000.
