Let’s recall, within the framework of the official reference, the CEO of Microsoft Nadella Satya (Satya Nadella) confirmed that by March 31, about 10,000 employees (about 5% of the total) will leave the company.
The cuts have also affected Microsoft’s in-house game studios: Bethesda Game Studios (now developing Starfield), 343 Industries (Halo Infinite), and The Coalition (Gears series), according to Bloomberg and Kotaku sources.
343 Industries head Pierre Hintze said in an email to employees that the company “hard decision made” about the restructuring of the team, in connection with which some roles were abolished.
Creative director and Halo franchise veteran Joseph Staten, who joined 343 Industries in 2020 to help fix Halo Infinite, will leave the studio and return to the Xbox publishing arm.
It is noteworthy that exactly one year after the announcement of the acquisition of Activision Blizzard for 68.7 billion dollars, Microsoft disclosed the plan for mass layoffs and the record deal was opposed by the US Federal Trade Commission.
