The full reveal of the next fighting game in the acclaimed Mortal Kombat franchise is fast approaching, and the first details of the highly anticipated game have been revealed by a trusted insider.
From Data User billbil-kun, who revealed the announcement of Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy and the release date of F1 23 and Immortals of Aveum in advance, the next Mortal Kombat will be called Mortal Kombat 1.
According to an insider, Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. Given the lack of previous-gen consoles, it’s safe to assume the Switch version will be cloud-based.
Mortal Kombat 1 will reportedly be sold in three editions – Standard at $60 (Switch)/$70 (PS5, Xbox Series X and S), Premium at $110, and Collector at $250 (in physical format only on PS5, Xbox Series X and S). .
Apparently the next Mortal Kombat will be another reboot of the series (at least that’s what both teasers suggest), so the change in numbering in the title shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.
The last reboot of the franchise came in 2011 with the release of Mortal Kombat, the ninth numbered installment. Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11, which will follow in 2015 and 2019, are continuations of the story begun in The Nine.
Mortal Kombat 12 has been confirmed by the Warner Bros. CEO. Discovery by David Zaslav in February. Then the boss mentioned that the game will be released this year. An announcement is expected shortly.
