Sources from the VGC portal announced that Konami is planning an update of MGS 3 in autumn 2021. The Chinese studio Virtuos is said to be responsible for the case. The remake was rumored to be shown at E3 2023 in June, but the show has been cancelled.

Recently, XboxEra podcast host Nick Baker announced that the MGS 3 remake will be appearing at the PlayStation Showcase in May and will have something of an exclusive status that Windows Central editor Jez Corden has also heard about.

As Henderson clarifies, citing whistleblowers from Insider Gaming, the alleged remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will not be exclusive to PlayStation: the release is reportedly planned for PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X and S.

As far as appearance in the PlayStation Showcase is concerned, according to Henderson, only a teaser trailer for the remake will be shown at the game presentation in May. An updated version of MGS 3 is not expected to premiere until 2024.
