Insider Tom Henderson confided in an exclusive article for his Insider gaming portal divided Details about the yet to be announced open-world shooter Far Cry 7 from Ubisoft.
The next Far Cry is codenamed Project Blackbird and is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal on the Snowdrop engine (The Division series, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Star Wars: Outlaws).
The plot of Far Cry 7 will reportedly be non-linear and will revolve around the protagonist’s family, who have been kidnapped by the conspiracy theorist group Sons of Truth and whose members must be rescued over the course of the game.
Relatives may be rescued in any order, but the rescue may not go according to plan and result in the death of a family member, which affects the plot. To reach 100% you have to save everyone.
The main feature of Far Cry 7 will be the introduction of a strict time limit: 24 hours (three days in the game). The timer pauses when entering the animal shelter.
Additionally, Far Cry 7 will reportedly feature interrogation mechanisms for enemies. Not all enemies will be forthcoming – the first will tell the truth, the second will decide to lie, the third will prefer to remain silent and the fourth will try to escape.
Project Blackbird is expected to be released in fall 2025. Henderson can’t predict the timing of the announcement – Ubisoft has been showcasing games on a whim lately: The Division 3 was confirmed in a random press release.
